post-doc position in experimental physics at SARAF (Soreq Applied Research Accelerator Facility)

The Soreq Nuclear Research Center (SNRC) is a leading center in applied R&D in a variety of nuclear and photonics technologies, operating under the Israel Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC). The IAEC established the Center in 1958 around Israel's first nuclear research reactor. Over the years the Center has expanded its scientific and technological activity while moving into new directions. Today the SNRC is an established research center founded on scientific and technological excellence in a range of areas including nuclear physics and engineering, nuclear medicine, non-destructive testing techniques, laser and optronics applications, testing components and materials in space environment, radiation safety, and more.

Institute description:

SARAF is a particle accelerator laboratory for basic and applied research located at Soreq NRC at Yavne. The 40 MeV and 5mA proton/deuteron beam from the LINAC drives the intense neutron sources of SARAF. The physics group is responsible for the development of the scientific apparatuses used in the facility and conduct precision experiments with neutrons.
Job Description:
a. Design and construction of experimental systems for performing physical measurements with neutrons
b. Precision analysis of physical measurements
c. Simulations for radiation safety of different experiments
d. Collaborate with local and international research groups

Required qualifications:

a. Education: Phd in Physics/Engineering
b. Experience: Involvement in high-level physical research
6. Preferred Skills:
a. Background in experimental Nuclear/Particle/Astro physics
b. High interpersonal skills
c. Ability to work independently
d. Experience in data analysis
e. Experience in scientific coding
f. High verbal abilities in the Hebrew language and good command of scientific speaking and writing in the English language.
