Job Title: Director of Business Development, Life Sciences

Reporting to: VP of Business Development

Yeda is looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Development to lead the commercialization of cutting-edge biotech and pharma technologies developed at the Weizmann Institute. This high-impact role involves collaborating with leading researchers, assessing the market potential of early-stage discoveries, and driving partnerships and licensing agreements with industry stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background, business acumen, and the ability to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Key Responsibilities

•Identify and evaluate emerging research projects with strong applicative potential, focusing on novel biotech and pharma technologies.

•Collaborate with researchers to assess the feasibility, market potential, and real-world applications of early-stage scientific discoveries.

•Guide Weizmann researchers in positioning their discoveries for industry partnerships.

•Conduct market analysis, evaluate competitive landscapes, and assess industry dynamics to develop commercialization strategies for Yeda’s technologies across multiple sectors.

•Work closely with IP, marketing, and legal teams to ensure seamless and effective implementation of the tech transfer processes.

•Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, investors, and key stakeholders to promote collaborations and identify licensing opportunities.

• Lead the preparation and negotiation of legal agreements, including licensing agreements and collaborations, to secure the commercialization of Weizmann technologies.

•Assist in the formation of startups and spin-offs that will advance the development of Weizmann’s innovations.

Required qualifications:

•Education: PhD in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field is required.

• Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the pharma or biotech industry, with a demonstrated ability to bridge academia and industry.

• Scientific Insight: Demonstrated capability to understand complex scientific research and identify its potential for market applications.

•Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey the commercial value of early-stage research to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

•Networking Abilities: Strong interpersonal and networking skills to build relationships with Weizmann researchers and industry stakeholders.

•Project Management: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage a diverse portfolio of projects in a fast-paced environment.

•Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is a must.

•Preferred Experience: Significant advantage for candidates with experience or background in immunology and/or oncology.
