Novocure provides cancer patients with a novel treatment for aggressive cancers using Tumor Treating electric Fields (TTFields). The Associate Scientific Director, Physics, will be a highly motivated individual and will be responsible for (1) Supervising and coordinating all activities within a highly qualified physics team, 2) providing technical and scientific leadership, 3) developing and building strong talent 4) Build new capabilities leveraging both internal talent and external expertise as required. 5) Have strong accountability for results.
This individual will be someone with very strong scientific credentials who operate with credibility and confidence and be influential in solving problems at the intersection of physics, biology, and engineering by bringing a cross-disciplinary approach. He/She will model a hypothesis-driven approach/mindset to problem-solving to deliver meaningful progress and to communicate / influence key stakeholders.
This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Vice President, Product Development and will be based in Haifa, Israel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve on the Product Development leadership team and be a strong partner and collaborator to engineering and applications software, pre-clinical/science, medical affairs, publications and other teams within Novocure.
Lead a team of 7-10 physicists performing activities related to TTFields therapy in engineering, biophysics and experimental physics.
Strongly develop capabilities to answer important questions requiring research and also new capabilities in data-enabled simulations to enable better product decisions.
Provide guidance to team on developing and communicating hypothesis-driven outcomes backed by theoretical and experimental work where end results are clear to key stakeholders.
Provide scientific expertise to support multiple initiatives while being rooted in strong clinical understanding.
As required, provide internal and external training on the physics of TTFields.
Provide scientific support for publications, patents and regulatory submissions.
